12/7/10 MAGPIES BEGIN AT CALLINGTON In Cornwall League Division 1, Penzance begin their fixtures away at promoted Callington on Sept 5th but are without a game the following week. The Magpies first home game is on September 19th against Marazion..
5/7/10 CORNWALL LEAGUE 2010-11 Penzance's opponents in Div.1 will be Dobwalls, Hayle, Marazion, St.Breward, plus promoted pair, Callington and Truro City. Champions Charlestown went into the S.West League, St.Agnes and St.Blazey were relegated to Div.2. Season kicks-off on Sept 5th. In the Cornish Trophies League Cup the Magpies got a bye to last 8, while in the Shoe Boy Div.1 Cup quarter-finals, they again face Marazion over two legs.
29/6/10 ST.DENNIS 6s The first competitive fixture is on July 11th, when St.Dennis FC host a women's 6-a-side tournament. Noon start, finish around 5pm, food & drink available.
9/6/10 LADIES TRAINING DATES Penzance Ladies FC training is to resume on Thurdays from July 1st, 7.00 - 8.30pm, temporarily at Rosudgeon Sports & Social Club. All players old and new are welcome, with or without experience. Extra training is available on Tuesdays, at Penwith College Astropark, 6.30 - 8.30pm, alongside the men's teams. 25/5/10 UK SEVENS RESULTS A mixed squad, including some Truro and Falmouth players, won one of four games on Saturday. beating Huntingdon 1-0 but lost to Newquay, Staffs Uni 2-1 and by two pens to Truro. Sunday's Supplementary Cup brought a 2-0 win over the students, a goalless draw with Thorplands and a 2-1 loss to Fulham Belles. Squad: Rudlin, Matthews, Bateman; Harvey, Dean, Britten, Mel Roche, Smara Sparkes, Sasha Sparkes, Hazel Sellars, Linzi Williams, Georgia Oliver-Collins.
18/5/10 NEWQUAY UK7s SCHEDULE In the weekend event at Trencreek Rd on May 22-23, we start on the Saturday at 12.40 v Truro. At 2.20 its Huntingdon, 3.35 Newquay 'B' and 4.50 Staffs Uni. Sunday matches are from noon.

4/5/10 U14s LAST AT TESCO SOUTH WEST REGIONAL FINALS Penzance LFC Junior Magpies only had eleven players available for the Tesco U14 Girls Cup South West Regional Finals in Bristol and were further hampered by injury. Losing their opening game 4-0 to Gloucestershire champions St Nicholas, they bounced back to defeat Droitwich Spa 1-0. But there followed a 5-0 reverse against Hereford Lads Club Vixens and a 2-0 loss to Bideford Blues & Appledore. Eventual winners Brislington won 3-0 against Penzance, who finished with a 2-0 defeat to the Dorset representatives..
28/4/10 KICK-OFF CHANGES Penzance v St.Agnes is now 7.15pm on Apr 28, the last league game at Marazion is now on May 12 at 6.45 start but may be put back still further.
28/4/10 NEWQUAY UKSEVENS Penzance are entering a side into the UKSEVENS tournament, to be staged at The Paddock, Trencreek Rd, Trencreek, Newquay, over weekend of May 22-23.
28/4/10 CUP FINALS Penzance play Charlestown in the Shoe Boy Div Cup Final at St.Agnes on May 9 and then St.Agnes in the St.Austell Trophies League Cup Final on May 16 at Hayle FC.
24/4/10 TREVENSON FRIENDLY Trevenson have requested a friendly prior to the 2010-11 season, as they intend to field a women's team in the Corwall League for the first time.
13/4/10 WOMEN'S TRAINING / SEASON 2010/11 Training may finally resume for next season, as there's a possibility of sharing the new astro pitch at the college, with the men's teams. More players and matchday helpers will be required, so don't hesitate to get in touch if you want to get involved. The Girls also hope to have teams at U12, U14 & U15 but will need more managers.
8/4/10 MARAZION AWAY IN LEAGUE CUP SEMI Penzance will now go to Marazion in the St.Austell Trophies Cup semi-finals on Apr 18, with the league game there now on Thus May 6.
20/3/10 U-14s SEMI-FINAL The Junior Magpies U-14s league cup semi-final is against Truro at Newquay FC on March 28th, 12.30 KO.
20/3/10 U-12s CHAMPIONS! The Junior Magpies U-12s were confirmed clear champions of the Kernow Girls La Liga today, with a 6-0 win at Trevenson.
20/3/10 TRURO TIE SWITCHED Penzance are now home in the league cup quarter-final with Truro on Thurs March 25th, due to Treyew Rd being unvailable. KO 7.45 approx.
16/3/10 MIDWEEK GAMES Penzance Ladies play their league cup quarter-final with Truro on Thurs March 25th, possibly at Marazion. A week later they'll play the away league match with Maarazion (April 1st).
27/2/10 CORNWALL CUP SEMIS Penzance Ladies will face Launceston or Saltash in the county cup semi on Tues March 16th (neutral venue), if they win at Truro on Sunday. Falmouth face Newquay on March 17,
23/2/10 DOBWALLS AWAY IN DIV.1 CUP Penzance have been drawn away to Dobwalls (again!) in the semis of the Shoe Boy Div.1 Cup on Apr 25. This means the Marazion away game is brought forward to Apr 18 and Hayle away is now March 14.
23/2/10 MORE FIXTURE CHANGES The women's away game at St.Breward is rescheduled for March 21st, the away game with Marazion now put back to April 25th.

18/12/09 FIXTURE CHANGES Penzance ladies home game with St.Agnes has been rearranged for April 11th. The League Cup quarter-final at Truro is on March 7th, the vital league game at Charlestown is now Feb 7th, Dobwalls (h) now March 28th.

16/11/09 FIXTURE UPDATE With Charlestown now having a cup tie on Nov 22, we are instead away to St.Breward that day, in the league. We are now due at Charlestown on March 7th. In the League Cup, we have been drawn away to Truro City in the quarter-finals, date tba.
10/11/09 DOBWALLS RE-ARRANGED The home league game with Dobwalls is now on Feb 7th, meaning we're due to play them 2 weeks running, with the away game on Feb 14.
28/10/09 ONE IN, ONE OUT? Tyler Matthews has joined Newquay and made her debut as a sub on sunday. On the plus side, Emily Hardaker is looking forward to a return to the club.
27/10/09 VIRTUAL VILLAGE VICTORY Penzance won their Lucozade Sport Performance League Cup tie against Maresfield Village, a 3-0 victory in the virtual competition sees them up against UG United of Harlow in round two.
27/10/09 U14s HOME IN TESCO CUP The U14s have been drawn at home to Charlestown in the Quarter Finals of the Tesco Cup, to be played at Penlee Park on 8th Nov, probably 11am. They've a bye through to the league cup quarter-finals, draw to be made on Nov 10th.
20/10/09 SIX NEW SIGNINGS Welcome and thanks to the six new players who recently joined and helped us field teams (and win!) in our two or three games. Charlie Gardner, Kerry Bytheway and Kerry Matthews made their debuts at St.Agnes, while Aimee Ellis, Megan Rudge and Terri Barberry played at St.Blazey.
18/9/09 LUCOZADE CUP PLACE Penzance Ladies missed out on a place in the 80-team Lucozade Sport Performance League but were again chosen to compete in the LSPL Cup. The competition has over 1,000 teams from around the country, competing against each other in a virtual knockout competition.
17/9/09 KERNOW FIXTURES REDUCED The Junior Magpies will now face less fixtures, with St.Agnes pulling out of the u12s & u14s, plus Newquay Celtic from the u14s./a>
15/9/09 TRAINING UPDATE Women's training moves to a new venue on Thursdays, 7pm at Marazion FC. All old and new players aged 16 and over are welcome, with a new face (Ray) in attendance to take on the coaching duties. The girls are still at Penlee Park on Wednesdays for the time being, 6.30pm-8pm.

27/8/09 DONNY GAME OFF The friendly with Doncaster Parkland Rovers on Aug 30 is finally off, after dozens of efforts to confirm with them, it appears they cannot field a team. Opposition are urgently sought for Sept 6th.
27/8/09 U15s GET HOME DRAW Penzance Junior Magpies were given a bye through the Preliminary Round of the East Cornwall League U15 Girls Cup, and will host Charlestown Reds in the semi-finals, on Saturday April 24th 2010. The final is scheduled for Saturday 22nd May.
27/8/09 BY THE WAY... Former Madron and St.Ives player, Kerry Bytheway, will be joining Penzance Ladies and should be available for Sunday's friendly.
18/8/09 U15s START AT HOME TO WADEBRIDGE Penzance will field their first ever U15 league side this year, as the Junior Magpies compete in the East Cornwall Youth League, alongside Bude, Charlestown, Trevenson and Wadebridge. The season starts on Saturday September 12th, when the U15s host Wadebridge Town. They then travel to Bude, a fortnight later.
18/8/09 KERNOW LEAGUE KICK-OFF The Kernow Youth League kick-offs on September 13th and both Penzance LFC Junior Magpies teams begin away. The U12s go to Truro City Eagles, while the U14s visit St Agnes. A week later, the U12s host Falmouth United and the U14s welcome Liskeard.
17/8/09 CORNWALL CUP DRAW Penzance have a bye through the Cornwall Cup 1st Rd on Nov 15th. Ties are; Charlestown v St.Blazey, Dobwalls v Camelford, Mevagissey v Hayle, St.Breward v Kilkhampton, Truro v St.Agnes.

5/8/09 UNA IN CHAMPIONS LEAGUE Una Nwajei, who played for the club back in our Truro days, was this week playing in the inaugural UEFA Women's Champions League. She bagged braces for her Norwegian side, Team Strommen, in wins over Levadia Tallinn and Osijek. In the group decider against Everton, Una was booked just 2 minutes in, as they lost in stoppage-time.
2/8/09 MAGPIES' 5 MISS OUT ON St.BREWARD 6s SEMIS Despite only fielding five players for a late entry into the St.Breward 6s, Penzance just narrowly missed out on the semis. Mevagissey were hit 4-0 (Britten 2, Dean 2), then Kilkhampton's Jo Timmins helped in a 0-0 tie with Callington. But the five lost 4-0 to Falmouth 'A', although Britten hit the bar with the scores still level. It was 0-0 with the hosts, Meyers hit the post and Dean's header was saved, while Rudlin made a couple of excellent stops with her legs but the result proved insufficient. Falmouth 'B' went on to beat their 'A' team 2-0 in the final. Penzance: Rudlin, Matthews, Meyers, Dean, Britten..
31/7/09 AMBER GETS ENGLAND CHANCE Former Magpies' midfielder Amber Grose has been selected for an England U19s training camp, for players not previously involved with the national set-up.
30/7/09 ST.BREWARD 6s Penzance have made a late entry into the St.Breward Ladies 6s on Aug 2nd. 10am register for 10.30 start. St.Breward, Falmouth, Mevagissey, Kilkhampton, Truro and Callington amongst entrants.
28/7/09 U13s DIVISION DROPPED The E.Cornwall League has dropped the Girls U13 division, after Pensilva withdrew and Charlestown followed suit. The 3 teams may still play friendlies. Meanwhile, the girls' resumption of training on July 29 was washed out by the downpours.

22/7/09 KERNOW GIRLS GROWING Penzance Junior Magpies will have busier season's in the Kernow Youth League, with the Under-12 division growing to 8 teams and the Under-14s to 11. The U12 Girls will face Culdrose Ospreys, Falmouth United, Helston, St.Agnes, Trevenson, Truro Eagles and Truro Falcons. The U14s will meet Charlestown, Culdrose Pumas, Helston, Liskeard, Newquay Celtic, Newquay Ladies, St.Agnes, St.Breward, Trevenson and Truro.
19/7/09 TRAINING RESUMES Penzance Ladies training resumes on Thursday July 23rd, 7pm at Penzance FC. All new and old players, aged 16 and over, are welcome to attend.
19/7/09 PENZANCE 6s REACH LAST FOURS OF ST.AGNES 7s Penzance Ladies first pre-season action came at the inaugural St.Agnes 7s, where the Magpies had representatives in both the cup and plate semi-finals, before bowing out with just six players left in each side having had the loan of two Falmouth players early on. The teams drew 0-0 when they met and Penzance 1 beat Kilkhampton with a Leanne Harvey goal, lost 1-0 to Roche and Bude, plus a goalless tie with Bradford Town. Penzance 2 qualified for the cup quarter-finals without conceding a goal. There were goalless draws with Roche and Bude, following a 4-0 defeat of St.Blazey, in which Candice Britten bagged a hat-trick and Nicki Ellis the other goal, and a 2-0 win over Kilkhampton (Britten 2). Penzance 1 knocked Kilkhampton out on penalties in the last eight of the Plate, before losing to Bradford in similar fashion in the semis. Penzance 2 put out Truro City with another Britten strike, before a 3-0 semi-final loss to Falmouth Town. Saltash went on to win the cup, while Bradford beat St.Agnes on penalties for the plate. Penzance 1 squad: Rudlin, Lawrence, G.Fitzgerald, Matthews, Ellis, Britten. Penzance 2 squad: Bateman, Retallack, Harvey, Dean, Bennett, Hemingway.
19/7/09 EXTRA JUNIOR AGE-GROUPS CONFIRMED The Junior Magpies are entering the East Cornwall League at U13 & U15, which would have 3 and 5 teams, respectively. This will be in addition to our U12s and U14s in the Kernow League.
15/7/09 CUP DATES ADDED Penzance's opening league fixture at Dobwalls has been postponed, they start at home to Charlestown on Sept 13th. The League Cup 1st Rd tie at Dobwalls is on Oct 11th, the Div.1 Cup ties with Marazion are Nov 1st home, Dec 6th away.
9/7/09 DONCASTER DATE Sheffield & Hallamshire League side, Doncaster Parkland Rovers, are planning a visit for a friendly on Aug 30th.
8/7/09 ROCHE FRIENDLY Penzance have arranged a first home friendly, against Cornwall League champions Roche, at home on Aug 16th, 2.30pm. The match scheduled for Torpoint has been cancelled.
6/7/09 CORNWALL LEAGUE CONSTITUTION The League AGM confirmed Penzance will compete in Div.1 alongside Dobwalls, St.Blazey, St.Breward, Marazion, Hayle, Charlestown and St.Agnes, the latter taking the extra promotion place. In the League Cup, the Magpies were drawn away to Dobwalls, while in the Div.1 Cup drew Marazion over two legs. The league will start on Sept 6th, provisionally away to Dobwalls, with Charlestown the first visitors on the 13th, although this is an FA Women's Cup date.
5/7/09 St.AGNES 7s No Wendron tournie this year but St.Agnes instead stage a ladies 7s on July 19th. Penzance putting 2 teams in. Get there early, first match at 10.30am.
5/7/09 U14s WIN CHARLESTOWN TOURNIE Junior Magpies played in the Charlestown Tournie on July 4th, where the U14s won their final against the hosts 4-2. The U12s finished third, having beaten Culdrose 4-0, finished goalless with Charlestown and lost 2-0 to eventual winners, Truro City.
4/7/09 KERNOW YOUTH LEAGUE 2009-10 Entries to be made by July 15, proposed divisions announced on July 23, before confirmation of league structure on July 30.
1/7/09 TRAINING RESUMES Penzance Ladies are back in training from Thurs July 16th, venue TBA. Although not now entering the Mullion 5s, we will be playing in the St.Agnes 7s on July 19th.
29/6/09 GIRLS' PRESENTATION EVENING The Juniors' presentations were on June 28 at Magpies, with awards as follows; Most Improved: Kerriann Young (U12s), Rosie Mason (U14s), Supporters' Player: Jai Hawkins (U12s), Lucy Brown (U14s), Most Sporting: Amy Barnes (U12s), Dani Barnes (U14s), Manager's Player: Emma Rowe (U12s), Laura Ellis (U14s), Players' Player: Jai Hawkins & Liz Smyth (U12s), Rosie Mason (U14s). Ella Whitman had the top attendance award (37 of 39 sessions),Megan Clemmens was given a sporting award for her keen record, despite being too young for the U12s. Sarah Rowe was also presented with a bouquet, to mark all her efforts throughout the season.

25/6/09 MULLION 5s Mullion are adding a women's section to their tournament on Saturday July 4th (1pm start). We hope to have a team entered.
24/6/09 SEASON 2009-10 Penzance will compete in Cornwall Div.1 in 2009-10, alongside Dobwalls, St.Blazey, St.Breward, Marazion, Hayle, Charlestown and maybe one other TBC. We're currently arranging friendlies with Roche and St.Dennis for August.
23/6/09 CANDICE WINS TOP SCORER AWARD Magpies' striker Candice Britten is to be presented with the Cornwall League Division 2 top goalscorer's trophy for 2008-9, having finished on 18 league goals, four ahead of her nearest rival.
15/6/09 PRESENTATION NIGHT Amy Hemingway took both the Supporters' and Players' Player of the Year awards, Gemma Fitzgerald was the Manager's Player and Carly Fitzgerald the Most Improved Player.
25/5/09 MAGPIES WIN PLATE Poole Town won the cup at the Penzance LFC 6-a-side tournament over the weekend, defeating Chippenham Town 1-0 in the final, while the Magpies lifted the Plate on penalties against Dawlish Town. LFC Sparta beat Culdrose 1-0 in the U14 Girls final, while the Junior Magpies won the U12s with a 1-0 win over Charlestown.
25/5/09 ESFA CAP FOR AMBER GROSE Former Penzance player Amber Grose is currently on tour with the English Colleges FA team in Estonia, where she played in the 2-1 win against national champions, FC Lavadia and an impressive 3-0 win over the Estonia U19s.
18/5/09 PRESENTATION EVENINGS Penzance Ladies are to hold their presentation evening on June 13th at the Meadery, whilst the Junior Magpies' event is at The Magpies on June 28th, beginning with a barbeque from 5pm.
11/5/09 CARRY ON BERT After returning as manager on a temporary basis in the new year, Bert Lawrence is now to continue in the roll next season, as he takes the team into the Cornwall Division 1.
28/4/09 FOXES FRIENDLY FOR GIRLS Another 11-a-side friendly is in the pipeline for the U14/15s. They hope to host Leicester City in August and discussions are now taking place.
