South West U18 Counties Championship - Cornwall 0-8 Devon

Devon bounced back from a heavy defeat to Somerset, with a convincing 8-0 Group B win over Cornwall at Saltash United FC. Devon took the lead as early as the fourth minute through Plymouth's Chloe Roberts. The lead was doubled four minutes later when another Plymouth player, Ellis Glanfield, turned in Sam Blake's cross. Devon were 3-0 up on 13 minutes when Roberts played in Blake to send Cornwall's Wadebridge keeper the wrong way. Blake saw two futher efforts saved by the home keeper. Cornwall then had their only chance to score of the half but Rose Knuckey's (Penzance) long-range shot went over.
Roberts extended Devon's lead in the 65th minute with a long-range shot from a cross by Blake and then Glanfield made it 4-0. Devon keeper Michaela Phillips (Plymouth Argyle) saved at the feet of Knuckey, who had earlier been denied by a last-ditch tacle from Plymouth's Carmen Thornton. Glanfield completed her hat-trick, scoring Devon's sixth on 75 minutes. Roberts then had a purple patch and netted again in the 83rd and 87th minutes to take her tally to four. Cornwall tried to break through the Devon defence but were kept at bay.
The next fixture for the U18s is away to Somerset at Taunton Town FC on Sunday 20th January.
