MAGPIES INTO SHOE BOY FINAL

Sunday April 25th 2010:
Cornwall League Shoe Boy Divison 1 Cup semi-final - Dobwalls 1-3 Penzance (after extra-time)

(N.Ellis, Lavertu 2)

Having already reached one final this season after an epic battle, Penzance Ladies did it again on Sunday, with a 3-1 win after extra-time at Dobwalls in the semi-final of the Shoe Boy Cup.
Penzance were behind after only 5 minutes, as Martine Hill bundled the ball in, following a goal-line scramble. Dobwalls were unable to extend their lead, even with the wind and slope advantage, while Lucy Rigby and Tamsyn Lawrie limited the Magpies to few chances.
However, Penzance stayed patient and a took advantage of a lapse by the Dobwalls defence and Nicki Ellis equalised with 15 minutes to go. The first half of extra time again saw Dobwalls with the advantage of wind and slope, but a very determined effort by Penzance kept them out. Alix Lavertu bagged a brace in the second period of extra time, leaving very little opportunity for Dobwalls to respond.
The Magpies will now face league champions Charlestown in the final on May 9th at St.Agnes FC
