POINT PUTS PENZANCE SECOND
Sunday Fabruary 14th 2010:
Cornwall League Division 1 - Dobwalls 2-2 Penzance
(Harvey, Redd)
Penzance travelled to Dobwalls for a Cornwall League clash and forced a 2-2 draw, even though they could only travel with 10 players. The hosts took a first-half lead and the Magpies' topscorer, Candice Britten, had to go in goal due to an injury, with keeper Grace Rudlin playing outfield. But Leanne Harvey steered an equaliser into the bottom corner, despite being momentarily blinded by the sun. Kat Redd marked her return with a screamer to give the visitors the lead but Dobwalls fought back for a share of the points. The draw was a fair result, although both sides hit the bar and had other chances to win the game.
These were the first points Penzance had dropped since the opening day and the one point gained edged them into second place.
Due to county call-ups, the Cornwall Cup tie at Truro City has been put back to February 28th. The home game with Marazion is now delayed until May 9th but the Magpies may have a re-arranged league game at St.Breward this Sunday.
