Britten's treble sees Magpies second

Penzance Ladies are in line for a top two finish, as a 5-4 win at Hayle put them back in second place in Cornwall League Division 1, with games in hand on teams beneath them.
A thrilling game saw the Magpies 2-0 up at half-time, as Alix Lavertu shot across the goal into the far corner and Candice Britten curled the ball in from a corner. But Hayle were in no mood to concede the game and kept fighting back. Britten and Lavertu both scored again but the hosts battled back to square the game at 4-4. Then in the dying minutes, Britten completed her hat-trick to make it 5-4.
The Magpies are away again on Sunday when they face St.Breward with a 2.30 kick-off at Brake Parc. Two Thursday fixtures are on the cards, with the league cup quarter-final with Truro City on March 25th, possibly at Marazion, plus the league game away to Marazion on March 18th or April 1st.
